Liquicity

'Liquicity' a new and extremely popular YouTube channel has today reached 100k subscribers and has released a mix to celebrate.

The internet has changed everything, the world has changed radically in the short time the internet has been present and this is no different in Drum and Bass. Underground music has changed dramatically due to accessibility to the internet, genres are quickly changing all the time and the audience is growing rapidly. Liquicity has pioneered the Liquid Drum and Bass genre dramatically since early 2008 and since then the popularity has sky rocketed. But is Drum and Bass popularity growth good for the genre?
Bass music is reaching new heights with songs even hitting the UK charts. And with Liquid Drum and Bass widely considered to be the easiest to listen to, is leading the forefront in this growth. Liquid Drum and Bass, for those that don't know is a sub genre to Drum and Bass. It uses similar bass lines and bar layouts to other styles but contains fewer bar-oriented samples and more instrumental layers which are both synthesized and natural, Many people consider Liquid Drum and Bass to be more euphorically and ambient invoking deep emotions in the free spirit of the symphonies.

So why is its growth considered by many hardcore fans as bad? Many fans argue that Drum and Bass doesnt need fame and money because that's not what the music is about, it comes from people making the music because they love it and dancing with your friends. Which is a cliche and has been said about every genre, but i believe it is different. Much like the free festivals organized in America in the late 60's early 70's Drum and Bass comes from this very same movement in banding together and making the music happen with organized underground illegal raves spreading the love for the music.
Although it may never and would take a long time to be seen as a main steam genre Drum and Bass still has a long way to go and it will be interesting to see where it will head.
